Those working against Boeing haven’t had the best of luck in recent months. From dying under mysterious circumstances, to having their tires slashed, to dying under *different* mysterious circumstances, speaking out about the company seems like an easy way to have strange and dangerous things happen to you.

Well, it brings me no pleasure to say that it’s happened again, though this is admittedly more strange than dangerous.

Last week, an emergency slide fell off a Boeing plane shortly after takeoff (these planes can’t do anything right!). While it was initially lost, it later showed up on the shore of a beach. Who lived on that beach, you ask? Why, none other than lawyer Jake Bissell-Linsk, whose firm sued Boeing after one of its planes lost a door plug midair earlier this year.

According to HuffPost, the lawyer “discovered the deflated slide washed up outside his oceanfront home near New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday.”

Delta has since confirmed that this was, in fact, the slide that fell off the Boeing plane, and that they’re working with the relevant authorities to figure out what happened. The HuffPost article also notes that there were more issues with the flight than just the slide falling off.

“The Los Angeles-bound Delta flight, carrying 183 people, declared an in-flight emergency after a vibration was detected shortly after takeoff on Friday,” writes author Nina Golgowski. “The plane safely returned to the airport, where the right wing’s slide panel was discovered to be open, according to a preliminary report by the Federal Aviation Administration and an emergency slide had fallen out of the plane.”

It turns out, you’re not even safe from Boeing if you stay on the ground.
